2026 Theme: America 250

Please submit your poem for the Sherburne History Center's 2026 Annual Poetry Contest.

 

One submission per participant please. Submissions must be ORIGINAL WORK. Submissions are accepted until March 15, 2026 at 11:59 p.m.

​

Poems must be America250 theme or patriotic in nature.

​

The submitted poems will be showcased in-person in our lobby gallery and on our website in a virtual gallery throughout the month of April. 

​

A Poetry Reading Open Mic will be held on Saturday, April 18 at 2 p.m. Contest participants as well as the general public will be able to read their poetry creations in front of attendees. 

​

Public voting for the contest will start at 12:00 a.m. April 1, 2026 and end on April 30, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Voting is available in-person and online. Each vote costs $3. 

​

The winner of the 2026 Poetry Contest, decided by popular vote, will be announced on Saturday, May 2, 2026.  The winner will receive half of the voting earnings in the form of a cash prize. 

 

The top three poems, decided by popular vote, will be published in the Sherburne History Center's next newsletter.

​
