Poem Submission #16

Algorithm

By: Trevor J. Brown

Is anyone who they say they are?
Is anyone real anymore?
Online you can be a king with lots and lots of bling
You can be an influencer that thinks she can sing
You can argue and let hypocrisy flow from your mouth
But you’re not saying anything at all
I drove by your old house
Expecting to see you out
I called your number like you were going to answer
But you’re not here anymore
Thinking about you and all these things you’ve missed
But I know you are here with me in this silence
Not saying anything at all
When you got to heaven
I know God held you close and said it’s okay now
